You will cross the charming villages of the “Pays de Hanau” and of the “Outre-Forêt” where geraniums flourish in abundance.
Arrival in Haguenau, settle into your hotel. Free car park at Hotel
1st night, Hotel.
Day 2 : Haguenau - Ingwiller 55 km
The Saint Forest in the north of Haguenau was the home of the hermit Saint Arbogast, first bishop of Strasbourg. On the outskirts, the emperors had churches and abbeys built in the 11th and 12th centuries, just like those in Walbourg. You will reach Ingwiller by passing through discrete and peaceful villages.
2nd night, Hotel.
Day 3 : Ingwiller - Saverne 55 km
You will discover a rural and countryside Alsace, villages, streets where large closed farms are perfectly aligned, decorated with beams and geraniums. In Marmoutier Saint Pierre and Paul’s church will introduce you to the roman architecture of Alsace. You will finally reach Saverne, the capital of roses where its 18th century chateau sits proudly at the foot of the Vosges.
3rd night, Hotel.
Day 4 : Saverne - Niederbronn-les-Bains 50 km
After going along the foot of the Vosges mountains and its charming villages, you will reach Neuwiller-lès-Saverne. In this charming village, place of pilgrimage in honor of the bishop St Adelphe, you will visit one of the gems of the religious architecture in Alsace. A few kilometres later, the city of Bouxwiller will uncover, through its streets, its many splendid houses which belonged to noblemen and masters, its rich past, its old capital of the county of Hanau-Lichtenberg. Niederbronn, the spa in the heart of the world’s reserve will host you for your 4th night.
You will penetrate the country of castles, your route will continue through the forests of the “Parc Naturel of the Vosges du Nord”, its forgotten villages and its remarkable natural sights. In Lembach, you will be given the chance to visit the lime kiln, an old underground fortress of the Maginot line.
5th night, Hotel.
Day 6 : Lembach - Wissembourg 30 km
Lembach is situated a few kilometres away from the German border and your 6th step will take you to the top of the Litschhof and to Schönau, to the heart of the villages which follow the bicycle track on the German side leading to Wissembourg, a beautiful medieval town.
6th night, Hotel.
Day 7 : Wissembourg - Haguenau 50 or 55 km
The bicycle track leaves from Wissembourg and takes you to Seebach. Seebach, just like Hoffen, is known to be the most beautiful of the beam-house villages in Alsace. In order to reach your initial destination you will head through the pottery villages of Betschdorf built on the outskirts of the Haguenau forest. The last leg of your journey will take you back to Haguenau.
